Parent: Words can not express the gratititude that I have for Mrs. Shaheen for providing my child with a wonderful place to grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Each morning when I drop him off at "school" he has a huge smile from ear to ear and every evening when I pick him up he is still smiling and beaming with pride as he shows me the work that he has completed with Mrs. Shaheen at "school". We call Mrs. Shaheen's Park Ridge Daycare "school" because it is a modified school enviornment that is warm and nurturing. It is where children are provided with time to play, engage in age-appropriate skill work, and complete creative activities.
Before attending Park Ridge Daycare, my son was at home in the loving care of his grandparents, but when he turned three I was in need of a full-time daycare for him. As a National Board Certified Teacher working in Montgomery County I knew that I needed to find a place where he could gain the skills he needed to be successful when he entered kindergarten. I was also looking for a place that he would consider his "home" away from home. I was concerned that I would never find the perfect enviornment - one that felt like home but yet would challenge and motivate my child to be interested in learning. Well, I found it at Park Ridge Daycare. Mrs Shaheen is soft-spoken but still instills discipline, which creates an optimum learning enviornment. At Park Ridge Daycare, Mrs. Shaheen stimulates learning with hands on activiities and one-on-one instruction. My son comes home daily with books, projects, and art activities that he has worked so hard on and is so proud to show off! Mrs. Shaheen encourages each student to work at their own level by differentiating her instruction to meet the needs of all the learners in her class. Just from one year with Mrs. Shaheen, my son's self-esteem has increased, as well as, his knowledge of letters , sounds, sight words, math skills, and social skills.
Nothing better attests to my son's admiration for Mrs. Shaheen than when I drop him off in the morning and he says to me, "Mommy, I want to go to school at Mrs. Shaheen's forever!" As a working parent, this statement from a four year old boy makes leaving him all day easier knowing that he is in a place where he feels safe, secure and loved!
